Shakespeare's famous line "All the world's a stage" certainly seems to apply to marketing these days. Whether we like it or not, marketing has become an integral part of the way we live and do business. Of late, marketing has expanded into avenues traditionally taken less seriously, particularly social media. With all the creative marketing approaches being used today, it can be tough to set yourself apart from the crowd. This month's guest author, Laura Armbruster, has some wonderful tips on creating marketing content with long term benefits.
Laura is the owner of Valuable Connections, a company that provides content services, consulting, and Internet marketing services for companies operating in the business to business (B2B) space. She has over 20 years of business experience, many of those years in technical support outsourcing management.

Make sure you speak their language!
So you have done your homework, created a great website, and have your social media accounts working for you. Your analytics reports show that you are getting traffic. So why aren't your visitors taking any action?
Whether you want your visitors to sign up for a newsletter, download a free e-book, or purchase a product from your website, you must make sure you are speaking their language. Compelling your targeted visitors to take action is critical. Frankly, it takes more than high rankings and lots of traffic to see results.
The majority of individuals who research and purchase on the Internet are well educated in the tactics that most marketers and sales people use. They realize they can find exactly what they want by performing appropriate searches and expect that they will receive it when they visit a website.

COMMUNITY FOCUS
Technology Team has long demonstrated a desire to inform the community about ways we can all be good stewards of the resources we have been given. One of those ways is through RecycleBank, a program that rewards members for certain actions, such as recycling at home, using wind and solar energy, and other environmentally conscious decisions.
RecycleBank began in 2005. Its goal is to encourage stewardship by financially rewarding participants. RecycleBank Points are earned by participating in various programs, such as home recycling, electronics recycling, and other special opportunities. Users simply create an account which is credited with RecycleBank points that can be redeemed at over 1,500 retailers nationwide.
Today RecycleBank serves over 1,000,000 people in the United States, and is expanding its services into Europe. For more information on RecycleBank and to request RecycleBank services in your area, visit www.recyclebank.com.

Last month’s question:
Three players have hit a grand slam home run in their first major league at bat. One player hit his grand slam on the first major league pitch he faced. Name that player.
Answer: On the first pitch of his first major league at bat on September 2, 2006, Kevin Kouzmanoff of the Cleveland Indians hit at grand slam off Texas Rangers pitcher Edinson Volquez. While many players have hit a home run on the first pitch they faced, Kouzmanoff is the only major league player to hit a grand slam off of the first pitch he faced.
Congratulations to Doug Word of McCollister's Transportation Systems, Inc., who was last month's winner through our drawing process!
With that said, many of you have probably realized by now that our answer is no longer completely accurate. On June 12, 2010, Daniel Nava of the Boston Red Sox hit a grand slam off the first major league pitch he faced, making him the second major league player in history to do so. Read the full story on his remarkable achievement
This month's question: The Popsicle was invented in 1905 by a young entrepreneur, but it had a different name until 1924. What was the original name?
Submit the correct answer for a chance to win a Starbucks gift card!
